"De Haan is available but you protected Boychuk?
Insert face palm gif here."
Boychuk has a NMC...so that explains that.
Insert face palm gif here. |

I think they should take Staal over Dumba. There's so many "Dumba's" available but not a lot of top line'ish centers |

If I'm Vegas I say give me Tuch and a pick or Kunin. Then I take Staal and potentially flip him for more futures as well. |

As a Blues fan, I would have been pissed if they protected Perron over Reaves. Yeah, Perron had 46 points during the regular season, but a whopping one assist in 11 playoff games. I hope he doesn't get picked by Vegas, but after watching his seemingly disinterested performance in the playoffs, I honestly don't care if he is back.
To dismiss Reaves as simply just another 4th line player tells me that these writers don't watch many Blues games. He is a huge man, great, fast skater, and some legit skill. He is the big body they need in front of the net, and he is a beast on the forecheck. |

Besides Boychuck still being one of our better defenseman. I love when people who know nothing write about something they know nothing about. |

Why exactly would Vegas want Eberle + 22nd instead of Manson + Marchessault? |

Reaves is not good at hockey. |

Because they need scoring and Eberle is one of the best scoring RW in the NHL.

Adam French nailed it on the head. Ken Holland is arguably the worst GM in the NHL since 2010. He's run the Wings into the ground with horrible contracts, bad trades and now this stupid move of protecting Howard over Mrazek... who most likely will regain his top form... (probably to another team now that he's unprotected). I hope Vegas takes the Sheahan. That would be a realistic and probably best situation for the Wings. Wings need their prospects badly for the rebuild. |

No issue with leaving Perron unprotected. Can't stand the guy and he was so awful in the Blues final playoff game he was benched in the third period.
Protecting Reaves just show the Blues don't have enough forwards worth protecting. |

I love how obnoxiously and condescendingly Peter Tessier wants to join the "Bash the Islanders" party when he clearly doesn't know the first thing about the organization. How does he not know that Boychuk has a NMC which is the reason he's protected? We're all face-palming for you here, Peter. |

Except marchessault put up 50% more goals than he did last year and is a year younger. |

And the other RW in this proposed trade outscored him by 50% this season, not to mention Manson also coming back. Face it, you'll be lucky to get Cody Eakin or Ryan Strome for Eberle. Eberle in any fashion for Manson is a laughable pipe dream. |

Meh...I'm happy
To keep Eberle...52 points in an off year is a hell of an asset. |

The red wings are a dumpster fire. Terrible decisions every year are the new normal. I'm not a bandwagon fan but when terrible decisions are made wnd become routine you can't give the same level of support
Just off the top of my head:
- trading jarnkrok, Patrick eaves, and a 2nd rounder for the corpse of David legs and
- Matthias janmark, backman and a 2nd rounder for Erik cole (terrible)
- and of course the contracts that make half of our team essentially untradeable unless we throw in more assets. Howard, abdelkader, helm, gkendenning, Erickson, and my favorite. Danny dekeyser as around the 50th highest paid defender
Seriously wtf |

2 years of Stall or a first round pick in the next 4 years for trading Dumba to a team that needs defense? Which is more valuable? |

Seems like a no brainer. There are a few centres out there that can be had for a second pair D that can score as much as Staal, are younger and have more upside. |

I guess if you don't want to build through the entry draft. But I think their best chance at long term success is loading up on early draft picks and be good in 10 years. |

Always what? I'm saying I understand the logic in taking Staal over Dumba, I just disagree with it. More and longer lasting success from good drafting vs short success to picking older players. |
